daves italian kitchen is not real italian and i will tell you why. firstly, dave and none of his employees are italian-not a one! the food is inconsistant and sloppy looking. the service or lack thereof. is some of the worst you will ever encounter! the prices are not that cheap, the wine list is average at best! so why do people like this place, beats me. its truely a greasy spoon sub-par diner with a high schoolish ambiance. the obvious lack of profesionalismn and training totally stands out, making this place a big zero in status! defenitly one that should be passed up!

yes, i agree with the other two writers about daves italian kitchen. this restaurant is totally overated in every catagory. the service is a mixture of mean, confused, rude people none of which are italian! the food is dreadfully inconsistant, poorly and sloppily presensented. it is usually cold clumped together and served with franco- american quality sauces. the bread is no better than wonder bread, and the garlic bread is drenched in butter, and disgusting.

it is obvious that the owner does not train any of his help, his cooks are not italian either. the wine list is overated as well, there just seems to be a total lack of professionalism at all levels in this place. his desserts are sub-par too, the canoli is the worst i have ever had. a greasy pastry shell filled with what tastes like bitter plaster, no exageration, its that bad! this place is americanised italian food and i question the owners boast about homemade, healthful food, its simply not! daves italian kitchen is a greasy spoon at best, not worth even one visit!

for years this dump has been the most overated place in evanston and chicagoland for that matter. rude service, terrible food mediocre wine list etc. i do not understand why people like this place. they have chinese mexican and non-italian americans on staff, its a joke. globs of cold clumpy lousy food. pass this horrible place up you will be glad you did.

this place is not authentic italian at all. rude servers and not so inexpensive prices. the food is franco-american quality at best. the wine list like the food is overated. its a junk food sit down joint. there is nothing healthful about the food at all. it rivals white castle at best. a big zero.
